2017 – 18

APRIL

1ST APRIL

  • A staff meeting was conducted on this day. Meeting started with prayer and blessings from Fr. Susai Raj. The agenda of the meeting was discussion on Corporal Punishment in schools. Teachers were divided into different groups according to their classes for further discussion based on the given topic. After that, session in-charges of each group presented their points. Fr. Raj urged the teachers to stop all sorts of Corporal punishment in the school.

  • 3RD APRIL

  • A grand inauguration ceremony of the new Saint Mother Teresa Primary Block took place. Rt. Rev. Dr. Eugene Joseph, Bishop of Varanasi, was the chief guest and blessed the block. There was a small cultural programme. The dignitaries present were many Fathers, Sisters, Principals, DLW Officials, parents, teachers and students. All were spell bound by the beautiful piece of the architecture. It was at this time that the School Annual Magazine, ‘VISTA 2017’, was released. The Principal, Fr. Susai Raj, thanked the architect, Mr. Arun and all the workers for their hard work and completing the building within a year. He also thanked the General Manager, Mr. Rakesh Aron and the the DLW Officials for their constant support.

  • MAY

    12TH MAY

  • The school closed for the summer vacations. It was the time for the children to relax and continue with their self study and also to complete their holiday home work and assignment. Children also actively participated in the summer training camp organised in the school.

  • JUNE

    30TH JUNE

  • A staff meeting was held on this day. It started with a prayer service. The important things discussed on this day were Result Analysis, Private Tuition, School Annual Function and different committees of school. Principal Fr. Susai Raj stressed the problems of private tuitions among teachers. Father congratulated each and every teacher for the good result of 10th and 12th classes.

  • JULY

    1ST JULY

  • The school began after the summer vacation. The campus was again filled with the presence of the students in their jovial mood after nearly one and half months to meet their Principal, teachers and their classmates and to begin their learning once again.

  • 8TH JULY

  • St. John’s Day Celebration

  • St. John’s Day was observed in the school. It was the day when children come to know about the Patron Saint of the School, St. John the Baptist. Painting Competition, Essay Writing, Poem Writing and Collage Making were held with the theme on the life of St. John the Baptist.

  • It was on this day that the Captains and the Vice-Captains of both the senior and the primary sections took oath. A cultural programme in this honour was held consisting of prayer meeting, Arabic dance and the skit on the life of our patron saint.

  • 22ND JULY

  • Zonal Level Creative Writing, Painting and Senior Debate were held at W.H. Smith School. The students who participated were:

  • 1.Hindi :Sakshi- X E and Garvit Gupta – X C In Junior Category and Simran Maurya – XII A and Ritambara Singh – XII A in Senior Category,

  • 2.English :Pragya Chaturvedi -X C in Junior Category and Jahnavi Tiwari -XI B in Senior Category. Jahnavi Tiwari -XI B was declared the winner to represent the Varanasi Zone at the Regional Level.

  • Zonal Level Senior Debate Compitition :

  • 1. Sudiksha Chatterjee – XII D and Yash Pratap Singh- XII B took part in it.

  • 29TH JULY

  • Zonal Level Declamation Competitionwas organised at W. H. Smith School. The students who participated in this competition were : Tanmay Gaur- X D in Junior Category and Aman Kumar Singh- XI B in Senior Category.

  • Zonal Level Quiz Competition was organised at St. John’s School, Ledhupur, Varanasi. The students who participated were : Shivabhijit Sairam, X-E and Shivendra Singh, X-E of Junior Category who were declared runners-up. In the Senior Catergory were Vinayak Asthana, XII-C and Bhaskar Acharya, XII-A.

  • Zonal Level Junior Debate Competitionwas held at St. John’s School, DLW. There were 15 schools that participated. The esteemed judges were Retired Prof. H.C. Bijawat (Department of Law, B.H.U.) and Prof. Archana Kumar, (Department of English, B.H.U.). The winners for the motion were: 1st – Aparna Rai (St. John’s School, DLW) and 2nd Afra Ehtesham (Jyoti Niketan, Azamgarh). The winners against the motion were: 1st – Navneet Yadav (Jyoti Niketan, Azamgarh) and 2nd St. Joseph’s School, Shivpur.

  • AUGUST

    5TH AUGUST

  • Zonal Level Basketball Tournament for Junior and Senior Boys was held at St. John’s School, Marhauli. Our Junior Team emerged as the winner. The team comprised of Divyanshu Singh- X B, Divyanshu Singh- X E, Gaurav Singh- X B, Shivam Kumar- X E, Saif Siddiqui- X D, Aditya Ojha-X D, Mrinal Kumar Mishta – VII E, Mohd. Hamza-VIII D, Ayush Goswami- VIII D, Aakash Aryan- VIII F and Avinendra- X C.

  • The senior team was the runners-up. The team comprised of Gaurav Singh- XII B, Anant Singh- XII D, Shivam Singh- XII B, Siddhant – XI B, Sahil Khanna -XI B, Shiva Chaubey- XI B, Sanjeev- XI-A, Gipson- XI C and Ritwik – XI B.

  • Zonal Level Basketball Tournament for Junior and Senior Girls was held at St. Joseph’s Convent School, Shivpur. The junior team that participated were: Ritika- IX D, Deepanshi- IX D, Akansha Pandey- IX A, Akshita Singh- VIII D, Survani Mukherjee- X A, Muskan Singh- IX C, Adrija- X D, Shambhavi- IX D, Arpita- X C, Omya- VIII C, Harshita – X C and Ridhisha- IX F.

  • The senior team was declared runners-up. The team comprised of : Shagun Pandey-XII A, Sarah Khan- XII B, Ishita Raghuvnashi- XI D, Shristi Singh XI A, Palak Raj Singh-XI B, Mansi Upadhyay XI D, Aditi Biswal – XI A, Aastha Pandey- XI D and Yashasvi- XI A.

  • Drama Godaan written by Munshi Prem Chand. The drama was enacted in the school auditorium by Vishwa Jyoti Shanchar Samiti of the India Missionary Society, Christnagar. The children enthusiastically watched the drama. A short introduction was given by Mr. Michael and the vote of thanks was proposed by Simran Maurya- XII A, the School Girls’ Captain. Students from class 9th to 12th gathered in the auditorium to witness the drama Godaan by Munshi Prem Chand.

  • 15TH AUGUST

  • Independence Day Celebration

  • St. John’s School, DLW celebrated the 71st Independence Day with much enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. On this occasion the Chief Guest Msgr. Dr. M. Santiago unfurled the National Flag and gave his message of peace and brotherhood to everyone. A prayer service was conducted by the school choir. Students from Class III to XII presented various cultural programmes. Vote of thanks was given by Principal Fr. Susai Raj. Sweets were also distributed to students.

  • 18TH – 22ND AUGUST

  • XXIV Monsignor Jerome Malafant Memorial Football Tournament was organized at St. John’s School, DLW. There were nearly 24 teams that participated in Senior and Junior Categories. Our school team played in both Senior and Junior categories. In the senior category St. John’s School, DLW defeated St. John’s Ghazipur by 1-0 goal and was declared the winner. In the junior category St. Mary’s School, Bhadohi defeated St. John’s School, Ledhupur by 3-0 goals and was declared the winner. The team of St. John’s School, DLW comprised of: Piyush Pal XI-D, Harsh Panchal XI-C, Arpit XI-C, Ayush Srivastava XII-B, Prajjwal XI-C, Ajay Tudu XI-B, Mashud VIII-D, Sujal Mishra X-A, Animesh X-E, Shobit VIII-C, Karan Singh XI-C and Akbar IX-F.

  • 19TH AUGUST

  • Regional Level Junior Debate Competition was held at United Public School, Kanpur. Aparna Rai of X A participated in it.

  • Regional Level Senior Creative Writing was held at Dr. Virendra Swaroop School, Kanpur. Jahnavi of XI B participated in it. She got third rank in the State Level.

  • Tree Plantation Programme : Class XII students went to Government Primary School, Rasulpur, Babatpur for tree plantation. Mrs. Shalini Matta, Mr. Vivek Singh and Mr. Sanjay Singh accompanied the students. It was a good exposure for the students to know the environment.

  • Fenestra Fest : The Fest was organised by Delhi Public School on 19th & 20th August. There were nearly 45 students who participated in the events like Dialogues, Math-e-Magic, Wolf of Wall, Spotlight, Innovation, Face Fantasy, Codex, Check-mates, Khamosh Adalat Zaati Hai, Social Jagran, JAM & Ablaze. The school team secured the runner-up position.

  • 31ST AUGUST

  • Fr. Camille Bulcke’s Birth Anniversary was celebrated. There was a short prayer service and floral tribute. Each speaker spoke on the contribution done by Fr. Camille Bulcke to India in Hindi Literature. The distinguished speakers were Bishop Eugene Joseph, Dr. Dayanand, Ms. Karuna and Mr. Ram Sutar. The Bishop highlighted how the students should follow the steps of Fr. Camille Bulcke in pursuing their goals. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Mridula Pandey.

  • Zonal Level Badminton championship was held at St. Mary’s School, Bhadohi. The participants were Shreya Pandey, VIII-F, Shambhavi Shakya, VIII-D, Kritika Wadhwa, XI-D, Aradhya Shukla, VII-D, Stuti Shukla, VI-D and Shristie Pal,VIII-C were declared the winners to take part in the regional level competition.

  • SEPTEMBER

    2ND-4TH SEPTEMBER

  • Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand Regional Level Cricket tournament was organized at CMS Lucknow. The Team comprised of: Anant Singh XII-D, Gaurav Singh XII-B, Saif Khan X-D, Shubham Kumar Rai XII-B, Shivam Singh XII-B, Yashovardhan Singh XII-D, Shivandra Rai XE, Divansh Kumar Nanda X-E, Divyanshu Singh X-E and Rishabh Singh IX-C.

  • 3RD & 4TH SEPTEMBER

  • Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand Regional Level Badminton Championshiop-2017 was held at CMS, Lucknow. The participants were Shrey Pandey- VIII F, Kritika Wadhwa-XI D, Shambhavi Shakya- VIII D, Stuti Shukla VI D and Shristi Pal – VIII C.

  • 5TH SEPTEMBER

  • A rainbow of cultural programme was presented before the teachers on this auspicious day. Floral tributes were paid to the portraits of Dr. Radhakrishnan and Saint Mother Teresa. A short skit, songs and dances were presented. The Principal, Fr. Susai Raj and the headmistress, Sr. Leema, thanked the children for the beautiful presentation for the teachers and asked them to be respectful to them all their life.

  • 8TH TO 12TH SEPTEMBER

  • UP & Uttarakhand Regional Level Football Tournament was held at CMS, LD Branch, Lucknow. The following students participated in Senior Category : Piyush Pal, XID, Ajay Tudu, XI-B, Ayush Srivastava, XII-B, Harsh Panchal, XI-C, Prajjwal Oran, XI-C, Karan Singh, XI-C and Arpit Srivastava, XI-C. In the Junior Category the students were : Masood, VIII-D, Animesh, X-E, Afkar, IX-C, Shobhit, X-A, and Sujal, X-A.

  • 12 – 22ND SEPTEMBER
    HALF YEARLY EXAMINATION
    24TH TO 26TH SEPTEMBER

  • Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand Regional Level Basketball Championshiop-2017 was hoisted in the school. The teams were from Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Jhansi, Kanpur North, Kanpur South, Meerut, Lucknow A, Lucknow B, Varanasi and Uttarakhand.

  • OCTOBER

    2ND TO 4TH OCTOBER

  • UP & Uttarakhand Regional Level Athletic Meet was held at St. Joseph’s School, Greater Noida. The following students took part : Priya, IX-B, Piyush Pal, XI-D, Ayush, XII-B, Prajjwal, XI-C and Akansha, IX-A.

  • 4TH OCTOBER

  • A Teach-Next Seminar was conducted on 4th October 2017. Mr. Pawan Kumar and Mr. Hamza from Teach Next explained how to make use of Science and Maths labs.

  • 7TH OCTOBER

  • An ‘Inquizitive Minds’ seminar was held in Fr. Joseph’s Hall by Career Launcher. The following students were selected to take part in National competition in Delhi : Atman Dwivedi, XI-C, Mahi Srivastava, XI-C, Shashwat Garg, XI-C and Pranjal, XI-C.

  • 17TH OCTOBER

  • Deepawali festival was celebrated in the school auditorium. Children from various classed took part in the small function. The auditorium was decorated by Rangolis, candles and diyas.

  • On this day the Half Yearly Examination result was distributed to the students in their respective classes by their class teachers.

  • PRINCIPAL’S DAY CELEBRATION

  • Rev Fr. Susai Raj’s Birth Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Cultural programmes were performed by the Students from classes LKG to 12. Every class presented handmade cards and flowers to father. Sweets were distributed to the students.

  • 24TH OCTOBER

  • A short film titled ‘ Phir Wahi Din’ was screened by B.H.U to raise awareness among teachers and students about diabetes on 24th October. The Guests of honor were Prof. V.N. Mishra, Neurologist, IMS, B.H.U., Dr. R. N. Chaurasia, Mr. P.C. Srivastava, the director and Mr. Dwivedi the actor of the film.

  • NOVEMBER

    8TH NOVEMBER

  • A new app “Snap Homework” was introduced in the School. Ms. Garima introduced the app to the teachers. Every teacher was registered in this app. It really proved to be very useful in establishing the bond between the students, parents and the teachers.

  • 14TH NOVEMBER
    CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

  • Children’s Day was celebrated with great zeal at St. John’s School, D.L.W. Cultural programme started with a prayer service followed by various cultural programmes. Sweets were also distributed to the students.

  • DECEMBER

    6TH DECEMBER
    SCHOOL ANNUAL FUNCTION

  • This year Annual Day Celebration took place on 6th December 2017. The bright illuminated premises of St. John’s School D.L.W. welcomed thousands of guests, especially the Bishop Rt. Rev. Fr. Eugene and the C.P.O of D.L.W., the Manager Fr. Maurice, Fr. C. Thomas, the Education Secretary, The Gala event started by lighting of the lamp by Bishop Eugene Joseph, Diocese of Varanasi. It was followed by a prayer dance.

  • The Annual day had a theme of ‘Family and Sanskar’. All the programmes were based on the theme. As it was a sport’s day too, so many races were conducted. Most of the students participated in the programme. Not only the cultural programme which enthralled the audience, but also the art of balancing shown by the students made the audience to look aghast.

  • The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour gave their blessings and wishes to everybody on this joyous occasion and also praised the programme. The National Basketball Championship (Seniors & Juniors) Teams were awarded by Bishop Eugene Joseph. The day ended with vote of thanks given by the School Principal. Fr. Susai Raj.

  • 21ST DECEMBER
    CHRISTMAS DAY CELEBRATION

  • Carol Singing competition was held on this day. All the classes participated in the event with great zeal. One Section from each class took part in the Carol Singing Competition on Christmas Day Celebration. A Skit on birth of Jesus Christ was enacted on the stage. At last Principal, Fr. Raj blessed every one of us with his good words. Cakes were also distributed to the students.

  • 23RD DECEMBER
    ALUMNI MEET

  • The 14th Alumni meet was celebrated on 23rd December 2017. A large number of alumni members of St. John’s School D.L.W. especially Silver Jubilee Batch of 1992 were present on this day. Students presented a variety of cultural programmes. Retired teachers were felicitated by the alumni members. 1992 batch gifted a music system for the School and a projector for Fr. Joseph’s Hall. St. John’s Family enjoyed Breakfast and lunch given by the Alumni.

  • 23RD DECEMBER

  • Winter Vacation was from 22nd December to 2nd January, 2018. The school closed for the Christmas and New Year Celebrations.

The meet began with the breakfast being served by the volunteers of sisters, fathers, brothers, novices, teachers and the school captains. Thousands participated in the meet with a lot of fervor and enthusiasm. Sporting activities and cultural events were organized especially for them. These specially gifted children seemed to be keen and eager to participate in these activities. Gifts were distributed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Eugene Joseph. The school captains, vice-captains, teachers and supportive staff took active role in seeing to the success of the programme. The Bishop at the end thanked everyone for their support.

  • 26TH JANUARY 2018

  • With a spirit of patriotism, Republic Day was celebrated on the Lotus Stage of the school. The Principal, Fr. Susai Raj, unfurled the flag. A number of patriotic songs, dances and skits were performed by the students of primary and senior sections.

  • 30TH JANUARY 2018

  • An emotional farewell was given to the students of Class XII. The function began with a short prayer service where all the students took part in the church. The Principal, Vice-Principal and the teachers prayed for them and their bright future. A heart touching farewell programme was presented by the students of class XI. As a token of love everyone was presented with a memento. Rishab Raj and Simran Maurya, the School Captains thanked all for transforming them into mature citizens.

  • Wiz National Spell Bee 2017 : The following students qualified for the state level : Pranamita Maiti, III-B, Jayesh, III-C, Agamya Tejaswini, IV-B, Asad Meraj, V-B, Muhammad Ali, V-B and Arjun Singh, V-C.

  • Max Top Olympiad 2017 : The following students qualified for the scholarship of Rs. 2500/- each. They were Arnav Kumar, III-D and Ashwini Kumar, IV-D.

  • Rangoli Making Competition was organized outside the school auditorium

  • Salad Making Competition was organized on the Lotus Lawn on3rd February.

  • Breakfast Table Laying Competition was organized on the Lotus Lawn on 10th February.

  • Flower Decoration Competition was organized on the Lotus Lawn on 24th February.

  • FEBRUARY & MARCH 2018

  • ISC Practical and Theory Exams was from 7th February to 21st March, 2018. Total 137 students appeared for the Exam.

  • ICSE Board Examination was from 26th February to 26th March 2018. Total 309 students appeared for the Exam.

  • Annual Examination from LKG to Class XI from 5th March to 21st March, 2018.

  • Annual Examination Result was declared on 28th March, 2018.

  • St. John’s Fraternity wishes all the Best for the Result of the ISC & ICSE Board Exams 2018.
